Is that a shovel or a snow blower? And is snowblower one word or two?

Charmi said...

Neither. It's a snow scoop, from the U.P.

You can write snowblower or snow blower, but the trend is to combine them.

Don't men look handsome when they're out shoveling snow? Joe had the audacity to suggest I do a little shoveling and I reminded him how cute he looked out there...there was the motivation!

I wasn't really thinking in terms of handsome or cute. Our conversation went more along the lines of:

Me: You want some help shoveling?

Gene: No, you'll hurt your back.

Me: I'll come out anyway just in case you have a heart attack.

Ahh, "just in case you have a heart attack." How lovingly affectionate. I like shoveling, well anything outdoors. I shoveled last year when I was six and seven months preggo. My midwife would've had a heart attack if she knew that. Then again, she was pretty liberal when it came to me doing stuff.

Talia, why am I always reading about you doing everything: mowing, laundry, child care, cooking, cleaning, dishes? Don't get me wrong, Brad and I argue over who gets to mow the lawn, but you do everything!

Talia does do everything. Crazy energy...

And I was being affectionate, really. It just looks different this decade.

Jennifer,

You read about me doing everything because I'm a big whiner. Joe shoveled yesterday, which makes up for the other 363 days of the year that I do everything else...just kidding! My husband is quite the hard worker. Especially in the warmer months of the year when his company has him 60 or so hours a week. Yes, he's a bit old-fashioned when it comes to doing housework, but so am I when it comes to doing "mechanical" things like changing the vacuum cleaner or adding brake fluid to the car, making the technology in the house work, taking out the trash (all of which I can do, but why would I when I have a husband).

I know you must think I'm terribly oppressed, doing housework and wearing dresses and all, but my life is quite wonderful...I'm incredibly lucky, having the best of both worlds in many categories. Though I can't stand FemiNazis, I know how to be a feminist when I have to, thank you.

HA. Yes, Talia, you seem so unbearably unhappy to live in such a repressive household. Actually, I'm thinking of most of the very conservative (concerning gender roles) couples I have known, and in almost every one of them, the woman is VERY MUCH in charge. Maybe from behind the scenes, but the woman rules the house, and the house is where the man has to live. :)

Joe is the head of the house...but I'm the neck that turns the head! :)
