Mucking Around

Of course I couldn't stay sealed up at home. Are you crazy?! The Koi needed duck weed and the air conditioning was just a tad too cool.

This guy loves to sit in the mud puddle in front of the duck weed pond. He's probably a descendent of that turtle that hung out in the giant mud puddle in front of my grandparents' house, the one I was sure was going to bite off all my toes. He's not as big as I remember his relatives, though.

Great pictures. I like the unhealthy green color but I do not want to swim.

Naoko, you crack me up! "Unhealthy green?" This place is like magic to me. I kneel at the edge of the swamp with my tiny fish net and scoop up the slime, also known as duck weed. I frighten the green frogs sitting on the bank (not on purpose) and they jump into the water. The green parts for just a moment and then, whoosh, the place where they entered disappears. When I come home I dump the duck weed into our Koi pond and they gobble it up. Usually I don't see the Koi, just the green rippling as they take their bites! Wonderful.

Sorry! Unhealthy means that I imagined when I would drink the water... But the place is very beautiful!

Charmi,

I want to see a picture of your pond at home.
