Dropping Out

We're sitting at a coffee house in Bisbee and we have stories to tell. But for now I just have time for a pic from a few days ago. We've camped and survived, but barely. Now we're enjoying the Bisbee air, which frequently has the aroma of pot wafting by. This is the home of society dropouts. I love this place.

I can't get over how beautiful your pics are!

And are you saying you belong here?

Unfortunately I didn't take any pics of Bisbee, but last year I fell in love with that place. It's a very small community that is amazingly connected to our place in the U.P., by way of the mines. They used to copper mine here, too. When the mines closed in Bisbee the hippy/alternative lifestyle crowd took over. It's full of artists and writers and doctors and insane people. It might be an urban legend, but I've heard Bisbee-ites described as the most educated population in America. Of course, it's also described in the same breath as an open air asylum. They also love dogs here. Every open air cafe has a dog or five on the patio. I'm negotiating with the owner of the motel we stayed at to trade labor from room & board next year.
