My Ghost House Dreams

For years I have had this recurring dream.

I own a large house that belonged to my grandparents. I don't live there, but I visit there and I never stay as long as I'd like to. The conditions vary, but there are habitable parts of the house and inhabitable parts of the house that are full of artificats from the past and ghosts. I always wake up before I can muster the courage to explore the inhabitable parts. But not last night. I dreamed I was sleeping (hah!) and could feel a ghost. I opened my eyes and I could see her, even the dark shadows of her bones underneath her skin. She wasn't the least bit frightening. She let me run my hands through her ghostly arms. We agreed to meet again.

Can I pretend to have my psych Phd. degree? lol I don't give much value to dreams unless they are reoccurring. Could it be there is something or someone in your past who you have avoided perhaps a relative? Maybe you have decided not to be so scared now and your are reaching out to connect to them perhaps to get some meaning or truth from your past.
LOL. I by no means are a expert, so don't take this too seriously. Ha Ha!
Take care,

Crazy.

I haven't remembered anything more than the glimmer of a dream in months. I almost never do.

I dream constantly and I love my dreams! It's always interesting to hear what other people think they mean. I did wake up very happy, though.

That is an interesting one. My guess on the meaning is something along the lines of psych's. I'm always taking drugs, drinking, or smoking in my dreams and feeling really guilty about it. I think it's because my body often tells me it wants to smoke a cigarette (or something) and of course, I tell this flesh that "no, we won't be doing any of that." That interpretation is pretty obvious.

Ryan - one reason you're not remembering dreams might be that you're not sleeping long enough.

I go through long stints where I don't seem to remember any of my dreams. When I do remember, it's usually because I've had a very long, uninterrupted sleep (which is rare) or because I've been through some major change in my life/mental state.

Charmi - that is a very cool dream you described, and I know what you mean about it not feeling scary at all. That's something I find fascinating--no matter what a dream about, it's always got a certain emotion tied to it. You can be dreaming about a ghost and feel nothing but comfort. Or you can be dreaming about laundry basket and an feel unspeakable terror of it.

The best dreams, for me, are those where you're feeling in love with somebody (and no, not just sex dreams). There's a level of connectedness you can feel in a dream that's unlike anything we manage amongst each other waking, and my personal theory is that this is because we're playing both roles in the dream, so every intent is perfectly understood; there's a flawless, wordless communication of emotion within the dream.

The feeling that somebody is truly inside your head, comprehending things exactly as you do, following your exact flow of logic, parallel and therefore perfectly compassionate... that's the coolest thing about such a dream.

Smoking, huh? That's funny.

I didn't get what you ladies got out of my dream, but that's the fun part. We all take what we want out of it. We should start some dream blogs!

I think you're right, Mark. The emotions are tied to the dreams. Great observations!
