This guy was just hanging upside down from the suet for the longest time, not moving, so I went out to check on him. I admit I burned the last suet batch and it hasn't been a favorite, but thus far it hasn't killed anyone. Anway, I thought maybe my cooking had caused avian injury. Whatever it was, he recovered. But he did let me walk right up to him and snap a few pics before he came to his senses and flew away.

um, wouldn't you walk away if somebody was trying to take pictures of you while you napped. sheesh!
ps, where do you get the lard to make suet cakes?
Rachel - It keeps me out of trouble.
Jennifer - I think he might have been knocked into nap-land by a falling ice ball. And you can get frozen suet (which is what they call it) out in Shipshewana at Yoder's Meats. You can probably get it closer to home, but I like driving out there.
