I might miss the views, but after two 12-hour trips to and from Denver, being stuck on planes, in penalty boxes on runways, and in airport terminals where young rambunctious children gravitate toward me, and dealing with the joy of Homeland Security, which only serves to make me feel lousy and not one bit more secure, I have no intention of setting foot on a plane again. Flying ain't what it used to be.

Beautiful picture! I have never got bored looking at the sky from the plane.
I had a stretch a couple years ago where I took about 12 flights in two months... And the flying experience just got worse. And worse. And worse each time. I haven't flown since and have done everything in my power to avoid it.
In other words, I'm totally with you Charmi. And I'll notify you the next time Amtrak's having a sale. ;-)
I know it's beautiful, but it just isn't worth it!
And yep, Mike, I did look at the Amtrak schedule today. Maybe I'm getting old and cranky, but there comes a point when you just have to draw the line. I'll look for you on the train.
I won't ride on any type of transportation I don't control. It cuts down on the variety of ways I can travel and places I can go. Nice picture, though. You have certainly seen some beautiful sights out there.
Does that mean you won't ride the South Shore to Chicago with me? Now that's a fun ride.
I didn't realize it was 12 hours to Denver. London is only 7 hours.
Technically speaking, it is only two hours from South Bend to Denver. The other ten hours were delays due to missing planes, malfunctioning planes, unavailable departure gates, unavailable arrival gates, layovers, de-icing... Never again.
