"The losses for average people are just beginning." - guest on NPR's Diane Rehm show this morning.
They're more than just beginning. Hold on to your hats or whatever that thing is that gives you comfort.
In a side item, while the world financial markets are crashing, the featured article at Yahoo this a.m. had to do with Michelle Obama's fashion choices. For some reason my laptop has the Yahoo page set as my home page. That's going to be changing.
So here's my little survey: What's your homepage?
When I settle on something, I'll let you know mine.

Gmail is my homepage for Firefox because I use my email and Google Reader (my rss feeds) all the time. Netflix is home for Internet Explorer because I only use IE for the instant viewing service at Netflix.
I have a My Yahoo page that loads the content I want. So I'm always greeted with baseball news before I get to the fashion choices of potential First Ladies.
At home it's the MSN Page. Mostly because that's what my mind has been programmed to ever since I started using the internet. Also, I have hotmail, so I click on it to read my email.
At school Google is the pre-set home page. It seems like they'd set their own page to it.
If I were going to change it, I'd set it to the Drudge Report.
Google. The end-all be-all source of useless knowledge.
If I was going to change it, it would also probably be the Drudge Report.
Google search page.
Google.
You know, I remember when I first found Google back in college... I forget how I stumbled upon it, but it definitely was just starting up. Incredible how it's become so completely ubiquitous.
Before that, I think I was using Netscape.
Mine is also Yahoo, and on Sept. 11, the top story was also something about celebrities, which was deeply disgusting. But I have Yahoo email, so I turn a blind eye. Am I a hypocrite?
No, no, not a hypocrite.
I'm still thinking about what my homepage should be. I've been enjoying the BBC lately. My 17-year-old daughter starts off with National Geographic. I suppose it depends on how you want to start your day.
I don't need Yahoo. I use Outlook to get all my mail...
Mine is set to iGoogle. It lets me select what I want from news (I have NPR, CNN, & Discovery) it also gives me other choices like weather, joke of the day, quotes... Plus it keeps my Gmail account in view and accessable. I can also select the background and theme; mine is Dragons (silver and black)I like it.
Speaking of hard times; read the article. Cities through out the US are wirnessing the erection of "Tent Cities" due to the massive homelessness.
