Instinct

Something happened real fast and my first instinct was to get out and harm the lady because she hit my car, and I cursed her. I'm not going to lie, I wanted to fight her. That's when I realized I couldn't move my hand. Since I am so honest, I was holding a Coors can and I was just holding it -- not to cuss -- the can fell out of my hands. Since then it stopped and it came and it stopped. I ain't been in no other hospital, but the psychiatric hospital. It hurts still to this day.

I'm assuming this is found text and not a confession. Charmi probably doesn't drink Coors. She would drink Miller in a bottle, at least. But I don't doubt the wanting to fight bit.

Yes, Miller in a bottle, at least.

No fight, more flight. Wings.

But I think I might have a project, Talia. Kelcey sent out something about a conference in Louisville that takes creative submissions. It is the Louisville Literature Conference on Literature and Culture. At first I was stumped on what to submit, but they mentioned law in their examples and I thought maybe I could compile some of these found text things I have to draw some portraits. So, that's what I'm attempting to do.

I want to do some conferences this year. I'll have more time and more money - no school!

I'd like to talk about AWP and also Winter Wheat in Bowling Green, Ohio.

wow, I was thinking what talia said, "Charmi drinks Coors?" I had you pegged for a dark beer.

"Doesn't drink Coors!"

And yes, I do like this dark beer that I get up north in the Keweenaw. It's from Finland, $2/bottle, hard to find, but the food co-op usually has it. Why did you have to remind me?!!!

How's everything, by the way?

That sounds like a great project--like a book, actually.

I'm all for AWP...I'd really like to attend this year, but as for Winter Wheat, I've seen it on a blog or two and it looked rather boring.

Kelcey recommended it, but you visit a lot more blogs than I do.

Mary Biddinger is going to be a featured reader. I just ordered her book Prairie Fever. We'll see if I like it or no. That might influence me.

I think it was Mary Biddinger's blog where I saw it.

There you go. I never go to that blog.

But I do like to hear real people poets reading their stuff and I do love to take little trips.

Well then you should go. And you should definitely write that book. And by the way, how many Bowling Greens are there in the world (Kentucky, Illinois, Ohio)? Sheesh.
