Peonies

I've been working on my flower beds lately. Always before Memorial Day, the peonies begin to bloom.

Oooh. Very pretty. My mom has lots of pink ones. I like the white, though.

Yes, I have some pink, too, but I haven't weeded them yet! They're a mess. I would love to cut some, but the ants...

I have read that the ants are what helps them to open up and you shouldn't remove them or spray for them. I'm sure you already knew this but I didn't. Apparently a chemical the ants give off, isn't that cool?

I haven't been able to do all the stuff I want to do outdoors yet. It's still too cold to have Amelia out there when I want to be.

Yeah, the ant thing. By the way, you two, I have lots of starts of blooming things. Just say the word and they're yours.

Before you know it Amelia will be pulling weeds with you, eating dirt, all the good stuff.

Yes...that's Hadley. A few weeks ago I knew she was on the front porch, but thought it strange that she was being so content there for so long, so when I went to check on her I saw why: she was scooping out potting soil and dumping it on the dog.
