Q. What did she die from?
A. She was assassinated.
Q. Related to your problems?
A. No, no, no, independently.
Q. How did that happen?
A. I don't know.
Q. Well, was she mugged?
A. She was involved with the wrong people or something like that.

when do we use the word assasinate and when do we use murder? do we only use assasinate when it's somebody of importance?

Good question. I don't know. I think the Mafia uses the word assasinate...

Correct...assassination is used when it's a prominent public figure, to my knowledge.

Assassin. Wonderful word. And I think it also has political implications. Like, for instance, if Angelina Jolie was killed by a stalker, one would say she was murdered. If, however, she was killed in Africa while performing her duties as a goodwill ambassador of the United States, one could say she was assassinated. Just my thoughts.
