Random Thoughts

There is very little difference between living in Indiana in the winter and having the flu, which is probably why I wasn't totally sure I had another flu bug until today.

It's possible I could alleviate many problems by moving to Arizona. The flu will definitely have a nicer character in Arizona, I'm sure of it.

I'm going to write my paper for Women & Spirituality on lunacy.

If no one accepted your amazing work this week, you're in good company (or bad company, depending on your outlook). "Thanks for letting us see this; sorry to say it is not something we can use, but do wish you the best of luck with it elsewhere." I'm sure.

Just when I was thinking of cancelling my subscription to the Elkhart newspaper, which piles up all around the house without even taking off its little blue plastic cover, the Finlander decides to read it and sees his old childhood buddy is sitting in the county jail for paying someone to beat up the deputy prosecutor and a witness against him in his criminal confinement case. Can you believe they took away his bail bondsman license because of that? Go figure.

Yes, yes, yes, Indiana winter = flu. Same freaking thing. I got sick when it was still cold, and as soon as those warm days hit, I SWEAR I felt better. Is the sun a natural antibiotic?

Oh, and I'm sorry to hear you're sick again. :( I hope I didn't give it to you at Fiddler's.

The sun is a beautiful thing. Every year I swear more vehemently that this will be my last winter doing the Indiana thing.

Yeah, right. You're not leaving. We need you. Not to mention the housing markets terrible. :)

I hate to say this, but since I really started eating better, no sickness!!! I eat highly oxygenated foods, lots of dark leafy greens and so forth.

However, I consume a ridiculous amount of caffiene and too much junk food and haven't been bitten either. Perhaps it is all of those yummy smiley fires the school cafeteria serves up. ;)

Congrats on your Wolfson! Unfortunately, contrary to my prediction, it was not my year.

Yep, green veggies, good stuff.

I drink too much coffee, too. It's why I'm awake.

Ryan, thanks. It just goes to show, though, why you shouldn't get too into the contest things. It all depends on who's reading it... You're a great writer and it's possible the Wolfson will never come your way, but it won't matter because you have what it takes.

Charmi, congrats on the Wolfson. I want to read the story!

Thank you for saying so (here and in person!), it means a lot and is needed, at times. You and Rachel have both been good about not letting get silly and down over it. We all know better. :O)

PS-From what I've seen of her, your daughter has inherited the spunk of your personality, hahah.

Thanks, Rachel.

Ryan, you're quite welcome. I've admired your work from day one. And yes, Jojo has spunk. I can't imagine that would come from me ;-)

Nah...that probably came from the Finn. From what I hear, he's quite wild and outgoing.

Charmi, you won a Wolfson? Poetry? Does this mean you've won all of the categories? Congratulations! Way to finish off that last year.

Charmi said...

Thanks, Talia, but no, no, not poetry at all, and definitely not all the categories, Jeez. I believe you're thinking of Naoko! Fiction, which keeps popping up its head and telling me that's where I should be. But as I told Ryan and Rachel, contests are all very subjective. We all just need to write and not get caught up in those head games.
