The Bee Workshop

 Sunflower - the garage manager.
Gene - laying out the frames.
 It's like this, see?
Then you'll have one of these.
 Kirk - garage inspector.
 We need more tools.
 A bare naked hive.
Tom - when he's not brewing.  Rare picture.
 Mary - getting the corners.
And the handholds.

Family: Apidae

Back-lashed and passion-
Ate

Listen

The shiver of the winter bees

Apis mellifera.

Clustering around
Their resting queen

Hive dry and
Steady

93 degrees

A glacial outlook
Releasing

The heat in their wings

Before the Starlings

A couple of fat bluebirds.
The ones in the bird books seem to always look a little more trim.

Cold Sugar

Yesterday's cold pushed the plastic tubing off the taps. Still, several inches of sap in the buckets.

The Rural Economy

Langstroth left the pulpit
Determined to find

God in the apiary.
Capital G.

Who can be certain?

The poetry of the rural economy.

The asking and the knowing
Ripen and swarm into the

Dry hollows of a distant
Catalpa tree.

And if they survive the winter?

Cakes of pollen placed in a basket.

Jars of nectar hanging
Beneath the eaves.

Daze of Winter

He knocked himself out crashing into the window.
Then he came back to watch Tom brew.
