@ Albee Creek

Jo loves her job, but she's been biking ten miles every day through the redwoods, and bear and mountain lion territory, to get there, and then another ten miles home. She's okay with that. Me, not so much. We're going car and bear spray shopping.

Strangers

Look at us! We made it safely to San Francisco and nothing too fubar. The people watching was pretty good, though. The every-other-word-fuck kid behind us on the plane wasn't cold-cocked by the middle-aged guy across the aisle, but a fight was looming. Polar opposites. The rule breaker and the enforcer. Everyone has their roles. I'm playing the observer.

As a side note, Virgin America is amazing. Try it, you'll like it, Mikie.

Now to find out where California put their Trader Joe's.

Tinto Figuero

I'm drinking wine and working

What comes next? Who goes where?

Freddie tells them he's got warrants
out on the beach, but we won't go into that

The source of all this information is Freddie

The source of

The rapture, this coming Saturday--

Wait, I won't be here. Can we weschedule

I mean reschedule

If you show me a photopack I'll say

She looked better with her clothes on

Without the gravel in her teeth

Without the mulch in her hair

Seasoned

It's Wild Kingdom season at The Keranens'. Elimae doesn't know what to do with the snake in the back yard, except bark at it. The green frogs are slightly more entertaining (and everywhere.) The robins, who have been teasing Sylvia ever since they arrived this spring, have decided to build their nest outside my bedroom window in the catalpa tree, above Sylvia's kiddie swimming pool. I have a feeling this is going to end badly. There will be an intervention needed at some point, I imagine . I need to stock up on super soaker squirt guns. Maybe I can install a little squirt gun turret in my window and surreptitiously soak the stalkers of robin fledglings. Maybe I need to put some little robin life preservers on the side of the pool. I don't know how I'm going to get any work done, but I'd like two or three more seasons of May.

Freshening

The orioles are back! New nectar for everyone! Fresh sunflower seeds! The not-so-stealthy squirrel hanging upside down from the bird feeder is definitely nursing. Sylvia, once again, has taken to hunting our back yard toads. May can come around my house anytime, although I'm awfully fond of September, too. But let's not get ahead of ourselves. There will be plenty of time for September later.

On Saturday the mailman delivered my subscription to Black Ocean Press. Four books plus Handsome for $40. So far, I've consumed Ordinary Sun by Matthew Henriksen. Good stuff. I should buy more small press subscriptions. I always find something to be delighted about. On the other hand, I've been poking around ordering stuff on the Kindle, too, which might be the polar opposite of ordering from a small press. Click the BUY button and within seconds Robert Hass is in my hands and lined up next to The New York Times and The New Yorker and my bank account has surrendered $9.99. Chekhov, the old dead fart, is instantly delivered and free. Both electronic and paper have their seductions, I suppose. The real books are great for my real house and my real rocking chair. The electronic books are great for traveling sans a 40-pound sack of tomes, and of course there's the instant gratification aspect.

But look! the sun is shining here, Amazing! and the May weeds haven't ceased their grow. I'll be out in the freshening.

Tom's out there somewhere
Oh, there he is.

And Mary, too.

They did it.
